Speaker discusses strengths of area Latina businesswomen

Community leader Nelly Venecia is the featured speaker for the lunch meeting of Women in Management at 11:15 a.m. Tuesday, June 28, at the Aurora Country Club, 1600 Prairie St., Aurora. She will speak about the strengths that Latinas bring to the business world.

Venecia is a leader in the Aurora community and an advocate for women's issues, Hispanics and education. Her experiences include working in Latin America and the United States. In the 10 years she has lived in the United States, she has faced challenges ranging from the language to the humor.

Her participation in local and state groups shows her dedication to the community. She serves on the Aurora YWCA board, the Hispanic Advisory Board for the Beacon News, the Aurora Hispanic Chamber of Commerce and the Women's Forum for Rep. Linda Chapa-LaVia. She founded the Business Institute for Hispanics. Venecia is president of the Venecia Group, which provides consulting, training, translation/interpretation and special events.
